Arsenal ready to £40m for Pedro Neto

Arsenal are willing to pay up to £40 million for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto in the January transfer window, according to . The report has claimed that Wolves value the Portugal international winger at £70 million.

Football Transfers has reported that Arsenal would ideally like to sign both Neto from Wolves and England international striker Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window. However, due to a limited budget, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would be able to bring in one of them.

Arteta has decided on Neto. That is because the Arsenal manager wants to decrease the workload on Bukayo Saka, who is just 22 years of age and regularly plays for the Gunners and England. Neto has made 99 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. …

Florenzi: Six debutants reflect Italy´s need to start ´fresh´

Alessandro Florenzi insisted he has faith in Italy s young talent following their 1-1 draw with Germany on Saturday.

The Azzurri opened their Nations League campaign with an improved performance from their UEFA/CONMEBOL Finalissima loss to Argentina, consistently generating opportunities against a ball-dominant Germany.

Among a string of debutants including Torino duo Tommaso Pobega and Samuele Ricci, 18-year-old Wilfried Gnonto marked his first cap for Italy with an assist for Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Wearing the captain s armband and amid Italy s failure to qualify for the World Cup, Florenzi tried to bring perspective to this international window post-game.

There were many young players compared to Wembley,  Florenzi told RAI Sport. Some of them paid a p…

MLS: New England breaks points record, Sporting KC downs Galaxy to go top in west

Supporters Shield winners New England have made more history with Wednesday s 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids breaking the MLS record for most points in a single season.

New England have one more regular season match to extend their record, playing Inter Miami at home on November 7.

Koke wants to be Atleti´s Gerrard

Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has no plans to leave the La Liga club, with the Spain international prepared to follow in the footsteps of Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.

Koke, who emerged from Atletico s youth ranks in 2009, has been linked with an off-season switch to the Premier League, with champions Chelsea among those interested.

But the 22-year-old has once again dismissed suggestions he will leave Madrid, insisting he wants to build a legacy at his boyhood club, just like Gerrard, who is set to end a 28-year association with Liverpool.

I have a contract with Atletico, I want to accomplish things and I am happy here, Koke said.

Of course I d like to be Atleti s Gerrard.

Koke refused to weigh in on the ongoing speculation surrounding goal…

Former Man Utd skipper Roy Keane says Bruno Fernandes ‘not captaincy material’

Roy Keane insisted Bruno Fernandes should be stripped of the Manchester United captaincy after they were outclassed by Manchester City in a one-sided derby at Old Trafford.

Erling Haaland struck from the penalty spot after 26 minutes and then headed home shortly after the interval before Phil Foden put an emphatic stamp on a 3-0 victory for Pep Guardiola’s visitors.

While City laid down a marker in their Premier League title defence, United’s defeat was their fifth in just 10 matches this season and left them 11 points adrift of leaders Tottenham.

Ronaldo subject of PSG interest

that Paris Saint Germain made a world-record bid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo on transfer deadline day.

Manchester United had been linked with a move to re-sign the Portuguese international, though French champions PSG have also been monitoring his situation.

However, Real have no intention in parting company with their star player who is this season aiming to win a fourth straight FIFA Ballon d’Or award.

Ronaldo swapped Old Trafford for the Bernebeu in the summer of 2009, and he has since racked up three hundred and two appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three hundred and thirteen goals.

Xavi salutes unsung heroes for team effort as Barcelona swat aside Elche

Xavi highlighted Barcelona s success as a team effort rather than down to individual performances after a comfortable 4-0 win in LaLiga over Elche.

A Robert Lewandowski double, plus goals for Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres, saw the Blaugrana swat aside their rock-bottom hosts at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

Against a team who look almost certain to be relegated, there were few doubts about Barca s superiority.

But Xavi was quick to praise his side s unsung heroes as much as their headline-makers, stating his belief that it is a balance of both that will bring them the title.

It has been a rounded night, he said. [It was] a very good game, from start to finish. We have a team with players who do not necessarily participate too much.

[But] they pe…

Premier League players to stop taking a knee before every game

Premier League players have decided to stop taking a knee as an anti-racism gesture before every match.

The initiative was adopted as a way of supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, which became prominent following George Floyd s death in police custody in May 2020 in the United States.

Certain pockets of society were critical of the gesture, suggesting it was politically motivated – England players were even jeered for kneeling ahead of Euro 2020 last year.

The Premier League and club captains consistently refuted such criticism, adamant it was simply an anti-racism message.

But some players and Championship clubs did begin to stop participating last year, with Wilfried Zaha suggesting it doesn t matter whether we kneel or stand as abuse continued…
